Quezon City, Philippines – The consolidated net income of ABS-CBN Corporation registered P1.708 billion for 2012, down by 29% compared with P2.420 billion in 2011. Removing the effects of the gain from the sale of investments recognised in 2011 amounting to P1.032 billion, net income increased by 23%. ABS-CBN Corporation has widened its lead over rival TV stations in February with an average audience share growing to 42%, 10 points higher than GMA Network’s 32%. ABS-CBN International Distribution has sold approximately 40% of its content since 2000 to eleven Asian countries including Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong Indonesia, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, primetime newscast TV Patrol, and AM radio station DZMM were the only Philippine entries named as finalists in the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2012, which includes Jury Prize categories for both radio and television.
