Singapore – Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) announced the launch of ‘Jumpcut Asia’, the inaugural creative workshop as part of the year-long content partnership with the Info-Communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA). The three-day boot camp will bring aspiring local filmmakers through DNAP’s best practices in producing content for global broadcasters across both linear and digital platforms.
It will also aim to stimulate discussion and inspire filmmakers to experiment with new storytelling styles and techniques as well as present them across multi-channel platforms that will travel across the Discovery regional network. Till 4 December 2016, Singaporean* filmmakers and production companies are invited to submit their original ideas for films that will capture the essence of Southeast Asia through the Jumpcut Asia website. Held from 16 – 18 December 2016, the three-day creative workshop is open to all interested registrants.
Industry experts including Oscar-winning documentary film producer Nicholas Reed, will share his experience through masterclasses in pitch development, what makes a good story, how to present and how to get attention for your project. Shortlisted applicants will go on to pitch and the winners will produce a short film and receive full funding and production guidance from DNAP, with their final films premiering to millions of viewers on DNAP and Viddsee’s digital platforms in 2017.
