Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming service, announced today their Korean Viu Original lineup until the year’s end. On 11 October, Korean drama A Good Day to Be A Dog will premiere as a Viu Original in all 16 of its markets. Based on the mega-hit Korean webtoon, this highly anticipated dramatization seeks to delight the established fan base and K-drama lovers alike. The 14-episode series will be available on the Viu platform every Wednesday in Korea and all other markets.
Marianne Lee, Chief of Content Acquisition & Development, Viu, said, “A Good Day to Be A Dog, from its all-star cast, captivating storyline to quality production, has everything our Viu Originals are known for. Our Viu-ers have received our Korean Viu Originals extremely well so far in 2023. Given the immense popularity of the webtoon in our markets and the popularity of Cha Eun-woo, we believe that the drama will enjoy similar success.”
The premium drama series from A+E is produced by Group8 and directed by Dae-Woong Kim. A Good Day To Be A Dog stars Cha Eun-woo (Island, True Beauty) and Park Kyu-young (Celebrity) in a story about a young woman who turns into a dog at midnight whenever she kisses someone. The only person who can break the curse is a man afraid of dogs.
Of the 11 Korean Viu Originals slated for the year, thrilling revenge series The Escape Of Seven and romantic fantasy drama Twinkling Watermelon premiered in September. The former, from the creators of An Empress’s Dignity and smash-hit trilogy Penthouse, has garnered positive response across Viu’s 16 markets.
Viu also announced the following Viu Original K-dramas scheduled to premiere on the platform between now and December 2023.
