Screen Australia announced A$750,000 in support of the production of five short films through its Springboard Programme, currently in its fourth year. For the first time, Screen Australia decided that all participants will be given the opportunity to make their short film, with production funding of $150,000 each. All teams will also receive ongoing support to develop their feature film scripts.
The five selected projects are Bluey (supporting the feature Obelia) with Darlene Johnson and Heather Oxenham to write/direct and produce respectively; The Apartment (supporting the feature Dealer), written and directed by Sam and Tom McKeith with Robert Coe to produce; Skin (supporting the feature Red Earth) with Liselle Mei writing and director as well as Trish and Dan Lake as producers; Martha the Monster (supporting the feature Pest Control) produced by Michael Pontin and Jamie Hilton with Christopher Weekes slated to write and direct; and Dario (supporting the feature Starfish) which is written by Hannah Moon, Stephen Sholl and Robin Geradts-Gill with Moon to direct and Geradts-Gill locked to produce.
