London – Antenna Group, the international media and entertainment organization, has signed a deal with VICE Media’s youth-focused international TV network, VICELAND, to become the exclusive distributor of the channel’s award-winning original content across Central and Eastern Europe.
The deal sees Antenna Group’s international distribution arm, Antenna International Enterprises, represent more than 300 hours of original VICELAND content across CEE territories including Russia, Greece, Romania, Croatia and Hungary amongst other countries in the region, excluding Poland. The deal will incorporate VICELAND’s library of flagship programming, along with select VICE Media shows including Emmy-Winning docu-series ‘VICE’, which explores global issues such as conflict and corruption, anti-government rebellions and climate change.
VICELAND has an extensive catalogue of award-winning programming spanning factual, current affairs and entertainment formats, from original series such as the Emmy Award nominated LGBTQ documentary Gaycation starring Ellen Page;investigative docu-series Black Market starring Michael K Williams; Action Bronson’s culinary travel show F*ck That’s Deliciousand US late-night show Desus & Mero fronted by the renowned “Bodega Boys” who offer viewers their singular take on politics, sports, entertainment.
This latest deal is a further expansion of Antenna Group and VICE Media’s existing partnership. In 2014 Antenna and VICE Media set up a joint venture in Greece, Serbia and Romania launching editorial and production operations to create and distribute content. Following huge success in reaching key younger demographics and viewer engagement, it was announced last year that the joint venture will expand to new territories including Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia.
International distribution of VICE content will be managed by Antenna Group’s Head of Distribution, Tatjana Pavlovic, and available to international broadcasters at this year’s NATPE Budapest market. Antenna has the international distribution rights to almost 10,000 hours of content across all genres. Titles include the recently announced new shock doc series exploring a range of startling traditions and customs from the Balkans region as well as long-running international drama hit Brousko.
