NTP Technology will exhibit its latest-generation Digital Audio Denmark range of audio production interfaces in Amsterdam, September 13th-16th. Designed for use in studio or location recording and live music production environments as well as film sound post-production, the DAD Thunder|Core series includes the AX64, compact AX Center and ultra-compact Core 256.
DAD AX64 analog-to-digital / digital-to-analog / digital-to-digital audio interface
“The pristine audio quality of preamps and transparency of our AD/DA converters originated back in the days of high-res DXD audio recording for SACD,” says Mikael Vest, Director of Operations, NTP Technology. “Media professionals throughout the film, television and music recording industry also saw the benefits of our flexible audio routing and digital format conversion. Occupying 2U, the AX64 is our flagship multi-format digital/analog/digital interface. It offers 256 Thunderbolt and 256 Dante channels for use in just about any professional audio application. Standard features also include PRO|MON monitor control from mono to immersive plus 128 channels of SPQ loudspeaker processing with a total of 1024 EQ bands and individual channel delay. The AX64 can be tailored with additional I/O. The expansion capability is unlimited as you can add any Dante device of your liking to your setup such as extra A/D-D/A converters, microphone preamps, headphone amps, mixing consoles or speakers. Installing one eight-channel D/A card in addition to the four built-in output channels makes the AX64 the perfect 7.1.4 solution for immersive Dolby Atmos music production.”
DAD AX Center compact audio interface and router
Occupying just 1U, the AX Center audio interface and router can be housed in a near-to-hand rack, placed directly on a desktop or used as part of a transportable recording rig. It is equipped to be the centrepiece of audio conversion and monitor control. The PRO|MON section of the control software gives access to a 512 x 64 channel summing processor. SPQ processing offers 128 channels with a total of 1024 EQ filters, as well as delay, for accurate loudspeaker correction in the studio. The internal routing matrix spans 1,106 x 1,112 channels, allowing any input to be routed to any output or duplicated and routed to several different destinations simultaneously.
DAD Core 256 ultra compact digital audio interface and router
Core 256 is the most compact of the DAD Thunder|Core series. A digital router and monitoring interface with 848 input and output channels, it is ready to take on many other tasks in the post production, studio and installed audio spheres. “With Dante, MADI and ADAT ports onboard and versatile and flexible DADman routing control available, it is also a stellar D/D converter that can grab any digital audio channel – convert it if needed – and route it anywhere,” Mikael Vest adds. “At 1U high and half-rack width, it can share a 1U rack shelf with an Apple Mac Mini running Dolby Atmos Renderer, Dolby Atmos Production Suite or Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite. For immersive audio post-production facilities, this is the missing link that streamlines and optimises multichannel workflows.”
NTP Technology’s DAD Thunder|Core has a hardware latency of only nine samples, 28 bit floating point resolution, and is capable of handling up to 256 bidirectional channels at 48 and 96 kHz, 128 channels at 192 kHz and 64 channels at 384 kHz. It also supports Apple Silicon processors, macOS Big Sur and forward with a Core Audio driver, as well as Windows 10 and forward with an ASIO Thunder|Core driver.
