After announcing an exclusive distribution agreement with THEMA, Globo is strengthening its presence in Asia and bringing its main launches to ATF. With telenovelas and series, the company also presents its dramaturgy classics and highlights the sale of formats for local adaptations.
Among the telenovelas, ‘Land of Desire’ currently airing in prime time in Brazil, ‘Never Give Up’, and ‘Perfect Love’, broadcasted this year, are some Globo titles on ATF. From Walcyr Carrasco, Emmy winner for ‘Hidden Truths’, ‘Land of Desire’ won over the public and reached approximately 32 million people per day in the first fifteen weeks of broadcast*. ‘Never Give Up’ was created and written by Rosane Svartman, from ‘Total Dreamer’, one of Globo’s best-selling telenovelas on the international market. Another highlight, ‘Perfect Love’ is a period telenovela, set in the 1940s, by Duca Rachid (Emmy winner for ‘Precious Pearl’ and ‘Orphans of a Nation’), Elísio Lopes Jr, and Júlio Fischer.
Globoplay Originals, such as the telenovela ‘All The Flowers’ and ‘The Others’, Globoplay’s most popular series in Brazil**, are also among Globo’s bets at ATF. ‘Brazil Avenue’, a product sold to more than 140 countries, ‘The Clone’, and ‘India: A Love Story’ are some of the great dramaturgy classics that are also in the portfolio for the event.
By selling formats that can be adapted into local productions, Globo presents telenovelas such as ‘The Favorite’ and ‘Looks and Essence’, comedy series such as ‘It’s a Match’ and drama series such as ‘Second Call’ and children’s content such as ‘Blue Building Detectives’. Reinforcing the movement of this business model, Globo recently announced the sale of ‘Brazil Avenue’ format to Turkish producer Ay Yapim.
Currently, in Asia, Globo is airing ‘God Save the King’ in Japan. Last year, ‘Brazil Avenue’ also premiered in Japan, in addition to ‘Under Pressure’ and ‘Hidden Truths’ in Vietnam.
“Taking our products to ATF in partnership with THEMA is an important step for Globo to expand its presence on the Asian continent. Asia is a strategic territory for Globo and we are very happy with this partnership, which will certainly take our stories to new audiences”, comments Fábio Mauro, Content Distribution and Partnerships.
