Besides Dynamo’s newest series, AETN18 Media Pvt Ltd (A+E Network, India) has also acquired engineering and tech-focused Secrets Of The Superfactories (8 x 60’), incredible human survival stories Heroes & Survivors S1 (8 x 60’), South Asian wedding series Getting Hitched Asian Style (3 x 60’).
Discovery has picked up a number of male skewing titles in territories across Asia. Discovery India has licensed dramatic clip show World’s Deadliest (13 x 60’). Discovery Taiwan has acquired fast-paced and trivia-filled series So You Think You’d Survive S2 (8 x 60’) and auto restoration series Motorbike Show S3 (6 x 60’). Discovery Japan and Discovery Taiwan have acquired Machinery Of War (6 x 60’), a series looking at science and technology within the weapons industry, which has also been picked up by CCTV for China, Phoenix TV for SouthEast Asia, Hong Kong and China. The series has also been picked up in Korea.
In Japan, Nippon has licensed from celebrity bio-doc series Price Of Fame (18 x 60’), mind-boggling science series Strangest Weather On Earth S3 (8 x 60’), action-packed series Traffic Cops S6 (12 x 60’), and more. In Japan, documentaries including episodes from the heart-warming series How The Other Kids Live (3 x 60’), the thought-provoking The Robot Will See You Now (1 x 60’), and extraordinary access series Inside The Foreign Office (3 x 60’) have also been acquired. In Taiwan, PTS has licensed the cultural exploration series The Art Of Japanese Life (3 x 60’).
Further sales by Passion Distribution include both seasons of wedding meets property makeover series Where To I Do? (16 x 30’) to TVB (Hong Kong), and Blue Ant for their Makeful channel in Singapore.
Pan-regional channels have also been shopping at Passion Distribution. Pet Club TV has picked up animal episodes of clip show Make You Laugh Out Loud, (7 x 60’) and My House And Other Animals (2 x 60’).TechStorm TV has acquired competition series Robot Wars S1-S3 (18 x 60’) and documentaries including The Sexbots Are Coming (1 x 60’) and How Steve Jobs Changed The World (1 x 60’). Outdoor Channel Asia has acquired 45 hours this year including titles such as survival series Fat Guys In The Woods (16 x 60’), airplane pilot series Air Pressure (10 x 30’), tough job series Cold Water Cowboys season 4 (8 x 60’) and Klondike: Gold Fever season 5 (8 x 60’), among others.
