Sky Vision, the production and distribution arm of Sky, announced major multi-platform licensing deals across Asia for a slew of high end dramas and factual series.
The Emmy-nominated Patrick Melrose drama, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, has been licensed across Asia, including China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore, and is airing on a number of channels including iQIYI China, BBC Player Asia, BBC First Asia, Hotstar premium India and CJ in Korea.
Sky One’s hit drama series A Discovery of Witches, based on the best-selling novels by Deborah Harkness, has also been licensed across the region, and will transmit on FOX Networks Group Asia, through its general entertainment channel FOX Life and premium video streaming service FOX+, and CJ Korea.
Fortitude 3, which concludes Sky Atlantic’s hit Nordic thriller franchise, is licensed to Fox Networks Group Asia, through its original series and feature film channel FX. BBC Player Asia and BBC First Asia has picked up the critically-acclaimed Save Me, created by, and starring Lennie James.
Sky Vision has also sold more than 300 hours of quality factual programming that will play on VOD platforms across China. The deal includes a wide range of factual programming; from Secret Life of the Zoo, which captures the remarkable behaviour of animals at Chester Zoo in the UK; The Wine Show; Arctic Peril; Extraordinary Powers of the Human Body and Master of Photography. They air on the video sharing website bilibili, mobile app Lekan.com and Nordic TV (SVOD service).
CCTV’s new 4K channel has acquired 15 hours of stunning UHD content. Programmes include; Life: First Steps; Big Beasts – Last of the Giants; Monkeys – An Amazing Animal Family, One Wild Day and Dogs – An Amazing Animal Family.
