LONDON – Passion Distribution has acquired a raft of talent-led documentary and factual entertainment programming featuring Emma Willis, Stacey Dooley, Dr Christian Jessen and Anne Robinson.
Passion Distribution has secured the rights to Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over and Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street. All three series have been produced by Firecracker Films for UKTV’s premium entertainment channel, W. Passion Distribution has also acquired the documentary The Trouble with Women which features journalist and presenter Anne Robinson and is a Wild Pictures production for BBC One.
Emma Willis: Delivering Babies (6×60’) follows presenter Emma Willis (The Voice UK and Big Brother UK) as she trains for three months on a busy maternity ward as a Maternity Care Assistant. Working four shifts a week: day and night; alongside the nursing staff, Emma discovers first-hand what makes it one of the toughest, but most rewarding careers to have. Emma Willis: Delivering Babies is due to air this autumn.
In Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over (6×60′), award-winning documentary maker Stacey Dooley MBE will present a portrait of modern life by spending time with a diverse cross section of society. The series follows Stacey as she spends 72-hours in the company of a wide range of extraordinary characters and families, with the kinds of relationships rarely seen up close before.
In Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street (10×60’), Dr Christian Jessen, accompanied by Dr Sara Kayat (GPs Behind Closed Doors, Celebrity Island), leaves the comfort of the clinic as he travels across the UK in a fully functional mobile clinic to treat individuals in their hometowns. From major cities to remote rural areas, Dr Christian races against the clock as he attempts to do as many house calls and appointments as he can within a 12-hour shift.
The new format follows on from the two successful series of Dr Christian Will See You Now (18×60’). A third season has recently been announced which this time will see Dr Sara Kayat join Dr Christian with episodes focusing on specific topics such as sexual health or body issues. Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street premieres Thursday 13th September at 8pm on W.
The Trouble with Women (1×60’) follows journalist and presenter Anne Robinson (Britain’s Secrets with Anne Robinson, The Weakest Link) as she meets women from across the country to find out, 100 years on from some women obtaining the vote in the UK, what is still preventing them from achieving equality and what women are doing to fight back.
Sean Wheatley, Head of Acquisitions said: “These programmes cover very different subjects, but they all have a unique voice and approach their topics in new and surprising ways. We want to take the viewer on a journey and hope they will find something unexpected. With factual programming, it’s really important that the on-screen talent is both relatable and also someone you can trust. So it’s great to have experts, experienced journalists and presenters like Emma Willis who have a strong personal connection to the subject matter.”
