HILVERSUM – The premiere of The Voice Senior on RTL4 in the Netherlands on Friday evening, 24 August, scored fantastic ratings and has proved again the strength of the format. With almost 1.6 million viewers, the first episode was number 1 in its time slot, scoring 32.1% market share (20-49) and +81.4 % compared to slot average.
The Voice format aims to caters to all ages, whether giving the stage to kids, adults or now senior singing talent – the season premiere has even shown that seniors are great characters with amazing voices and interesting life stories.
The Talpa Media format has also been picked up by Russia, where it will premiere on September 7th. Russia is now the 5th country that has acquired the format, following previous announcements on The Voice Senior for the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Spain.
In this new spin-off it is now the turn of the seniors to prove that you are never too old to shine. Four celebrity coaches will compete to pick their favourite seniors in the world-famous blind auditions. In the Knockouts, each coach will select their two best seniors to take to the finals. In the final episode, the winner will be crowned.
