NEW YORK – HISTORY has signed Hyundai Motor Company as a global sponsor of HISTORY OF FOOTBALL: THE GREATEST STORY EVER PLAYED (HOF) in a cross-platform partnership, it was announced today by Sean Cohan, President, International & Digital Media, A+E Networks. Hyundai Motor Company will be sponsoring the 14-Day Television event on HISTORY in over 160 territories, premiering 28 May through 10 June.
The agreement to sponsor the ground-breaking HISTORY OF FOOTBALL programming event allows Hyundai Motor Company to showcase the car maker’s long-running partnership with FIFA and its association with the FIFA Men’s World Cup™ since 2002. The sponsorship is also an important reference for FIFA World Football Museum Presented by Hyundai that Hyundai Motor Company is opening in Hyundai Motorstudio Moscow to showcase the worldwide football related cultures and heritages of the FIFA.
This truly international partnership involves bespoke content commissioned by Hyundai Motor Company to air on HISTORY during HISTORY OF FOOTBALL, on-air sponsorship credits and branded promos, digital and social extensions and HOF interview clips for Hyundai Motor Company to run on online and social sites.
HISTORY OF FOOTBALL will air in over 160 territories around the world including in Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom; as well as across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Every major territory will present over 40 hours of content which will be a blend of global and local programming.
The television event takes an in-depth look at the sporting events that made such football luminaries and players as Pelé, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane, Villa, Rummenigge, Matthäus and Müller, household names around the world. David Villa, FIFA World Cup TM Winner and one of the most decorated players in the world, represents HISTORY OF FOOTBALL as its global press spokesperson.
As part of the 14-day programming event, HISTORY will present a slate of original, globally-focused premium documentary series as well as short form specials, complemented by a careful curation of films from previous FIFA World Cups TM. HISTORY channels around the world will also broadcast locally-sourced television series and documentaries that will offer a unique lens into each country’s particular passions for football.
