Star India’s new drama series Broken Hearts (Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara) will be sold worldwide by Eccho Rights, the latest deal between the independent distributor and India’s leading producer-broadcaster. International buyers will get their first look at the series at ATF in Singapore later this month.
The story tells of a young woman whose marriage ends tragically, as she is unable to forgive herself after falling in love with another man. The series is currently airing on Star Plus, winning millions of viewers daily in a late prime-time slot.
“Indian series continue to gain traction around the world, and we are pleased to add another to our catalogue,” says Nixon Yau Lim, Head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights. “This is a gorgeous production with a fantastic cast and we expect to see high demand worldwide.”
The series is produced by acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and features a stellar line up of Indian actors including Sanjay Kapoor, Smitri Kalra and Niki Aneja Walia.
Earlier this year Eccho Rights added Star’s Amla (Kya Qusoor Hai Amla Ka?) to its slate, joining 3 scripted formats from the same producer, Unexpected Love (Diya Aur Baati Hum), Vera (Ek Veer Ki Ardaas… Veera) and Tangled Sisters (Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai).
