LONDON – Shine International announced two major new territory deals for Gracepoint, the adaptation of international phenomenon Broadchurch.
The worldwide distribution deals have seen Gracepoint (FOX) acquired by FOXTEL (Australia) and Global TV (Canada).
Based on Broadchurch, the UK’s critically acclaimed hit crime drama, Gracepoint, a new 10-episode event series expands on the original series threading new storylines through the gripping narrative.
When a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach, a major police investigation gets underway in the small California seaside town where the tragedy occurred. Soon deemed a homicide, the case sparks a media frenzy, which throws the boy’s family into further turmoil and upends the lives of the town’s residents.

Featuring an all-star cast including David Tennant (Broadchurch, Dr. Who), Emmy Award winner Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe Award winner Nick Nolte (Luck) and Golden Globe Award nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) as the powerful crime series moves to its startling conclusion series, the investigation cuts a devastating swathe through the town of Gracepoint.
CEO of Shine International, Nadine Nohr said, “Arguably one of the most anticipated dramas of the season Gracepoint has its origins in Broadchurch, but over the extended 10-episode run, this adaptation will take audiences on a very different, but equally compelling journey. Exploring the universal themes of love and loss, global audiences will continue to connect to this deeply moving drama, which I’m very proud to have as part of our scripted slate.”
Produced by Shine America in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends, Gracepoint is executive-produced by Anya Epstein (In Treatment, Homicide); Dan Futterman (Capote, In Treatment); the original series’ creator, Chris Chibnall (Dr. Who, Camelot); Kudos’ Jane Featherstone (The Hour, Utopia), John Goldwyn (Dexter); and Shine America’s Carolyn Bernstein (The Bridge). Futterman and Epstein serve as showrunners. Chibnall wrote the premiere episode, and James Strong (Broadchurch, Downton Abbey) directed. The series will be distributed by Shine International.
