CBS Studios International and ITV2 announced a deal for the exclusive, first-window broadcast and VOD rights to the new drama, Scorpion. The show will launch on ITV2 in 2015.
“We are thrilled to be working with ITV to bring Scorpion’s unique and action packed storylines to British audiences,” said Stephen Tague, Senior Vice President, Europe for CBS Studios International. “Scorpion will undoubtedly add sizzle to ITV2’s schedule this autumn.”
Angela Jain, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, said, “ITV2 is delighted to be showing Scorpion. We think this fun, action-packed drama about a group of misfit masterminds is a perfect fit for our young audience. Its’ incredibly strong premiere on CBS in the States is just the start we had hoped for.”
Sasha Breslau, Head of Acquired Series at ITV, brokered the deal with Stephen Tague, Senior Vice President, Europe for CBS Studios International.
Starring Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick and Katharine McPhee, Scorpion is inspired by the true story of eccentric genius Walter O’Brien and his team of brilliant misfits, who comprise the last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats of the modern age.
Scorpion also boasts a creative team including Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, who wrote the new Star Trek films, the Transformers films and the box-office smash Amazing Spider-Man 2. Behind the camera is Justin Lin, the dynamic director of the Fast and Furious franchise.
