Global Agency has acquired the worldwide format rights (excluding the United States and Canada) for the hit game show Catch 21 from Merrill Heatter, creator of The Hollywood Squares.
The fast-paced game show combines the card game “21” with pop-culture trivia questions, featuring three contestants facing off against each other to start a blackjack hand from an oversized, but otherwise standard, 52-card deck. High pressured and edgy, with plenty of laughs, players can use the cards they earn to improve their own hand or destroy one of their opponent’s. The winner of the competition becomes the champion and plays an exciting end game filled with decisions, where catching three hands of 21 wins the top prize.
Catch 21
The U.S. version airing on Sony’s Game Show Network remains one of the highest rated continuing series on the network since the programme began in 2008, where over 300 episodes have been produced.
Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency said, “Catch 21 is a winning format and has proven to be one of the most successful and enduring formats since it first debuted in the U.S. We are proud to work with Merrill Heatter, who has created dozens of highly-rated series over the years, and know this has all the potential to be a global hit.”
Merrill Heatter, President of Merrill Heatter Productions, said, “The concept is simple, blending knowledge, nerves and strategy, and has worked perfectly for years as a daily game show that has appealed to the highly sought-after key demographics. I believe Global Agency is the perfect partner to take Catch 21 into the international marketplace.”
