The Act of Killing has won the Best Documentary prize at the 2014 BAFTA Film Awards. The film follows a group of former Indonesian death squad leaders as they reenact their 1965-66 mass killings of around one million suspected Communists for a fantasy film that includes classic Hollywood crime scenarios and lavish musical numbers. According to Business Insider and International Business Times, Netflix has nabbed its first Academy Award nomination for its documentary, The Square.
