Indonesia's public television broadcaster, TVRI has signed a contract for the free-to-air coverage of the Beijing Summer Olympics. The contract was concluded at a signing ceremony in Jakarta between the President Director of TVRI, Dr I.G.N Arsana, and the Secretary-General of the ABU, David Astley. Jakarta - No local broadcaster has made plans to air the Beijing Olympic Games next month, making this the second Olympiad that Indonesians will not get to see live or free-of-charge. Slew of new HD channels for Sky Perfect
Tokyo - Sky Perfect Jsat is targeting to launch 62 HD channels by the fourth quarter of 2009, with an overall goal of 100 HD channels. Japan's largest satellite broadcaster, with 3.5 million subscribers, just unveiled its mid-term plan for 2008-2012. Phoenix looking to land in Taiwan
Taipei - China-focused broadcaster Phoenix Satellite has reapplied to broadcast in Taiwan, seven years after being rejected. A government source told media that Phoenix, which is listed in Hong Kong and allowed limited broadcast rights in China, submitted an application last month.
