CJ ENM Hong Kong, the regional office of leading entertainment company CJ ENM, together with Central Motion Picture Corporation and Deepwaters Digital Support Inc unveils the first three stills from the new Mandarin series BREEZE BY THE SEA, which is inspired by CJ ENM’s original Korean IP < Top Star U-back > (2018).
The original drama stars Kim Ji-Suk and Jeon So-Min and depicts the story of a superstar who got into trouble and was exiled to a remote island. < Top Star U-back > was filmed on Cheongsando, an island in the Southern coast of South Korea.
In the Mandarin version, Puff Kuo (Light The Wild, At The Moment) plays the role of down to earth housekeeper in family owned Bed & Breakfast establishment who also has to take on multiple part-time jobs to support a failing business. This is evident from first still (left) where she donned on diving suit and tried oyster quarrying in Kinmen for first time. Her sunshine, can-do spirit is put to test when she needs to host top-star actor played by Chen Bo Lin (In Time With You, Distance) who is atypical, demanding and no-nonsense city person. The still on the right shows his good looks and aloof character. This is the couple’s fourth on-screen collaboration, and from the still in the middle, they definitely set off bigger fireworks for the fans. The last time Kuo and Chen worked together was “Small and Mighty” in 2022.
To resonate with the original drama, the producers unanimously picked the coastal island of Kinmen with its unique scenery and local customs as the key backdrop of this series. The beauty of Kinmen is captured using the same full-frame photography lens as some of the latest Hollywood action films.
BREEZE BY THE SEA ended its filming in January this year and is currently in post-production, slated for release later this year. CJ ENM Hong Kong handles worldwide sales. Since 2021, CJ ENM Hong Kong has continuously invested in Mandarin scripted series production.
