Taipei - China-focused broadcaster Phoenix Satellite has reapplied to broadcast in Taiwan, seven years after being rejected. A government source told media that Phoenix, which is listed in Hong Kong and allowed limited broadcast rights in China, submitted an application last month. Astro among buyers linked to STAR’s Balaji stake
Malaysia-based Astro is being linked to the buy-out of STAR Group's 25.9 per cent stake in Balaji Telefilms - less than a year after STAR and Balaji announced their joint venture intentions. ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) has renewed its broadcast partnership with FIFA for the exclusive television rights to broadcast the 2010 FIFA World Cup and FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 for the Indian subcontinent. 42% of Australian homes watching digital TV
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has released in-depth findings of research conducted into digital TV take-up. 42 per cent of Australian homes have adopted digital TV, 52.6 per cent of households earning over AUD$70,000 (US$67,300) annually are watching digital television. Only a quarter (25.3 per cent) of households with annual income under US$28,800 have made the switch.
