Paris – Japanese broadcaster NHK has recreated the long-running French game show, Tout le Monde Veut Prendre sa Place or Hold On to your Seat!, as it is known in English. Originally created by Effervescence Productions for France 2, Hold On to your Seat! is one of the most successful programmes ever to air in France. The show has aired more than 1500 episodes since its debut in 2006. NHK has began producing a series of five pilot episodes which air twice a day, beginning in August 2011, with the option of a regular time slot. The Japanese adaptation is entitled Hold On! in English. In the Japanese version, points and prizes are up for grabs but contestants do not win money as they do in the French one. Contestants are a mixture of ordinary people and celebrities, known in Japan as “talentos”.
