John de Mol’s Talpa Studios has secured a third territory for its music game show The Winner Takes It All, with Spanish public broadcaster RTVE commissioning a local adaptation. The Spanish version will be produced by RTVE in collaboration with Stratos Studios. The commission marks the next step in the format’s international rollout, following its successful launch on SBS6 in the Netherlands and a commission by France Télévisions.
The Winner Takes It All turns the traditional talent show into a high-stakes music game. Fifty singers, each with their own musical background and specialty, take their place on a spectacular interactive LED floor, each standing on their own square with a hit song beneath their feet. From there, they battle it out in head-to-head knockout duels, combining live music with strategy and competition. From rock and pop to opera, soul and musical theatre, every contestant brings a different sound to the competition.
Sebastian van Barneveld, Director Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, “It’s fantastic to see The Winner Takes It All continue its international journey. What makes the format stand out is how it combines strategy and singing competition in a way we haven’t seen before. Fifty very different singers, across all genres, face off in a series of high-stakes duels where every performance means one thing: you’re either in or you’re out. Combined with an unpredictable mix of songs and great live music, it creates a competition where every duel feels fresh and anything can happen. Following its success in the Netherlands and the commissions in France and now Spain, it’s great to see how naturally the concept can travel across different markets and musical cultures.”
