Bitmovin, a leading provider of video streaming infrastructure, and Akamai, the cybersecurity and cloud computing company that powers and protects business online, have announced their collaboration with NRJ Group, a French multimedia company, to support migration of its mobile and web streaming services to Akamai Adaptive Media Player 2 (AMP2).
This move will enable the NRJ Group, who is the first net new customer to deploy AMP2, to reduce the complexity of delivering high-quality streaming experiences at scale, while also improving visibility into playback performance, and enabling faster issue resolution through deeper analytics and CDN-level insights.
Akamai AMP2, powered by Bitmovin’s Player, Observability and Stream Lab technologies, is an enterprise-grade media player that simplifies media delivery through hands-off maintenance, wide device coverage, and advanced playback optimization. By combining player, analytics, testing, and CDN infrastructure into a managed end-to-end solution, it enables service providers to more easily deliver high-quality viewing experiences at scale.
Stefan Lederer, Co-CEO, Bitmovin commented: “The combination of Bitmovin’s advanced playback and analytics technology with Akamai’s distributed cloud and CDN creates a uniquely powerful and scalable media player. NRJ’s successful deployment of the Akamai Adaptive Media Player 2 represents a strong validation of the player’s ability to support demanding, large-scale media environments.”
Scott Lerner, SVP Global Services, Akamai, added: “AMP2 is the result of a long-standing partnership with Bitmovin, combining the scale of Akamai’s content delivery capabilities and cloud compute infrastructure with Bitmovin’s widely deployed player, analytics, and stream testing technologies. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to help service providers like NRJ simplify streaming while also providing the best possible experience to their customers.”
Alain REYES, CTO NRJ AUDIO, NRJ Group added: “At NRJ, we’re committed to delivering seamless, high-quality audio and viewing experiences to all our customers. Akamai, our trusted CDN partner for many years, was naturally at the heart of our decision-making process. The choice of AMP2 was an obvious one, both technically and strategically: this solution allows us to optimize the entire delivery chain, from the source (CDN) to the final playback. AMP2, born from the collaboration between Akamai and Bitmovin, two undisputed leaders in content delivery, embodies the perfect synergy between performance and innovation.”
The NRJ Group is one of the leading media groups in France. It produces, publishes, broadcasts, and monetizes a wide variety of content, holding a leading position in the private radio sector as well as with its TV channel NRJ Hits, the first music channel on Box TV.
The NRJ Group has developed a digital ecosystem comprising a wide range of content (live digital streams, over 360 themed digital radio stations, native podcasts, and replays), accessible through a variety of platforms (websites, mobile apps, voice-controlled speakers, and third-party platforms) to maximize access to its content.
