Indie distributor Woodcut International has announced sales in Asia in the run-up to the ATF (Asia TV Forum & Market) next month.
TrueVisions (Thailand) has snapped up Season 1 of the factual series A Royal Guide To…(6 x 1 hrs) for its channel True Explore Life. Produced by Woodcut Media, the series looks at the numerous and somewhat little known protocols, etiquette and customs adhered to by the British Royal Family that also form the foundations of how to do absolutely everything as a royal.
Meanwhile PCCW Media (Hong Kong) took the powerful award-winning doc (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story (1 x 1hr) for its VOD service NOW TV. The documentary explores how 18 year old actor Rob Knox was stabbed to death just days after filming his breakthrough role as Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. As a rising star, his death made headline news, and stirred a wake-up call to address these types of crimes. This emotional documentary features interviews with family members, friends and Harry Potter cast such as Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Tom Felton, David Yates, Dani Harmer and Blake Harrison, including archive interviews with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Directed by Aaron Truss, produced by The Rob Knox Foundation (Colin Knox) and Nick Kenton.
Beijing ATW Culture (China) picked up the filmed theatrical performance of Wuthering Heights (1 x 155’) for theatrical release and non-theatrical platforms. Following its 5-star world premiere, this production sees the return of Emma Rice’s sensational adaptation which transforms Emily Brontë’s masterpiece into a uniquely theatrical experience and intoxicating revenge tragedy for our time. Wuthering Heights is A National Theatre, Wise Children, Bristol Old Vic and York Theatre Royal co-production.
The deals were brokered by Woodcut International’s appointed Sales Agent for Asia, Pooja Nirmal Kant who will be at the Asia TV Forum (ATF) in December.
Pooja Nirmal Kant said: “We are pleased to announce these sales in advance of ATF, especially as they are censorship friendly, which is always a challenge for international distributors selling content across the region. Last year the ATF market was bustling, and we look forward to the same next month, especially as it’s a superb market to reach niche channels and more localised buyers.”
Koulla Anastasi, Managing Director, Woodcut International added: “We are delighted that Pooja has closed these deals and look forward to extending our reach of factual fare into more Asian territories over the coming months, as the market continues to grow and evolve.”
