Turkish Drama series Golden Boy has now been licensed to more than 100 countries, following the latest raft of deals completed by international distributor Eccho Rights.
Azam Channels have picked up the title across Africa, with Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Ghana, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe all set to air the hit series, which recently returned for its second season in Turkey. The OGM Pictures-produced drama has also been sold to Poland (TVP), Czechia (Nova TV), Serbia (Happy TV) and Kazakhstan (Khabar) in the past month. Berkin Nalbantli, Sales Executive for CEE and Africa, Eccho Rights: “Golden Boy remains the most in-demand Turkish Drama series in the international market, over a year since its launch, with buyers loving its premium quality, and classic romantic storytelling.” Golden Boy has already scored a number of breakthrough international sales, including becoming the first Turkish drama to air on free-to-air TV in the MENA region since a blanket ban on Turkish productions in 2018. Earlier in 2023, Golden Boy became the first Turkish drama ever picked up for broadcast in Finland (MTV Oy/C More), and also the first such title licensed by a commercial broadcaster in Sweden (TV4). Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama, Eccho Rights: “With the start of the second season in Turkey, Golden Boy has cemented its position as the most watched drama series in the country each week, and now in more than 100 countries worldwide the title is unarguably one of the most successful Turkish Drama series we have ever seen in the international market.” Golden Boy is a classic family drama that tells the story of two sisters, Seyran and Suna, whose paths cross with golden boy Ferit. The two sisters’ lives change forever when Ferit decides to marry Seyran instead of Suna. Seyran will be the new bride in a family full of betrayals, lies and secrets. The series stars Afra Saraoğlu, Mert Ramazan Demir & Çetin Tekindor.Ad – Before Content
