The blue-chip natural history series Big Pacific from ZDF Enterprises will have its World Premiere Screening at MIPDoc 2017 at the JW Marriott Theatre, Cannes. A ground-breaking series exploring the mysteries of the planet’s greatest ocean, Big Pacific is made by New Zealand-based global producer of factual television NHNZ, in coproduction with partners from the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, including PBS, CCTV9, ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, Discovery International, Channel 9 and Arte.
The four one-hour episodes and the making-of special were shot in 4KHD on an outstanding budget. ZDF Enterprises is handling worldwide distribution on Big Pacific, which is the first of many projects planned under its partnership with NHNZ.
Big Pacific will illustrate the multi-faceted character of this vast ocean, with each episode focusing on a different characteristic. The Pacific Ocean holds half of the world’s water, and hides the deepest places on our planet. It stretches from pole to pole, its rim comprises 75% of the Earth’s volcanoes, and it is home to beasts beyond our imagination. In this prestige series, the world’s best cinematographers and researchers will capture its most guarded secrets to share with viewers worldwide.
MIPDoc is the key factual content trade event which is held in Cannes, France, on 1-2 April 2017 in its new venue of the JW Marriott hotel, ahead of the MIPTV entertainment content market, which runs 3-6 April.
