When the 2016 Rio Olympics begins in Brazil, the audience will be able to watch behind-the-scenes moments of the event from various angles besides the ones broadcast on TV. Through an innovative partnership, Snapchat will include the Games’ special content from Globo, broadcast rights holder for the Rio 2016 Olympics, in its coverage of the action and excitement from in and around the Olympics venues via its Live Stories product.
These Live Stories will be a curated collection of photo and video Snaps submitted by Snapchatters at the events and also small excerpts from Globo´s broadcasts. The partnership marks the first time that Globo will offer exclusive content of its sports coverage on a social media. The initiative encompasses both Globo free-to-air channel and SporTV, the multichannel sports brand operated by Globosat, Grupo Globo´s Pay TV programmer company.
