MTV brings new local content

August 14, 2015 by TVA Editor

Singapore – MTV is set to offer new local content for millennials in Southeast Asia in August – weekly socially connected music and lifestyle show, The MTV Show returns for its fourth season on 15 August at 1pm (WIB), 2pm (PH/SG) and 3pm (MY) and MTV News, the ultimate news source for music, entertainment, movies, current events, international and regional artists and interviews on the web for millennials around Asia.

Launched over the weekend, MTV News airs as interstitials in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia) between 10am to midnight daily with new interstitials every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Both shows are hosted by MTV VJs Alan Wong and Hanli Hoefer and produced in Singapore.

THE MTV SHOW

The MTV Show continues to remain close to its socially active audiences through social engagement, allowing viewers to shape and determine the type of music and lifestyle content that is aired. Through its social channels Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, fans can share and discuss the show, and access additional content such as sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos.

Besides the return of the popular Instagram music video request segment using the hashtag #themtvshow, fans can expect even more audience interactivity with new segments We-View and X OF THE WEEK. We-Viewcovers reviews and previews of new music videos, and the VJs’ explorations of up-and-coming artists, products, food spots and cool hangouts. Additionally, X OF THE WEEK presents a trending topic or theme for the week, derived from the social sphere such as “Cringe of the Week,” “Prank of the Week” and “Time-Killer of the Week”. Talking points, content and comments submitted by fans via the show’s social platforms will be curated for these segments.

Over the weekend, MTV launched MTV News, the ultimate news source for music, celebrities, entertainment, movies and current events on the web. It is pop culture on steroids. Tapping on MTV’s multi-platform news operation around the world, not only will there be daily digital news feeds, but MTV Asia VJs Alan Wong and Hanli Hoefer will deliver on-air snack-sized packages of what is trending, relevant and entertaining for the time-starved millennial audience in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia) every day between 10am to midnight with new interstitials every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The show will also feature interviews with visiting international and regional artists.

MTV News is produced in collaboration with tertiary institution LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.
