DHD announces a new utility designed to increase the efficiency of its audio mixing systems during initial installation and subsequent configuration.
“Anyone who has commissioned a DHD system knows the question: A new device joins the network, so what’s its IP?,” says Marc Herrmann, managing director. “Our established DHD Toolbox application has always had the answer but a lightweight utility in your tray is simply more comfortable for that quick look. And it shouldn’t require Windows.”
A new tray app, DHD Discovery runs quietly in the background. Using the Multicast DNS decentralised networking protocol it watches your network and shows every DHD device the moment it comes online, including DHD cores, RM1 broadcast-from-anywhere interfaces and audio-over-IP devices connected via AES67/Ravenna or Dante.
A single click opens the device’s web apps. Everything can then be seen at a glance: a local dashboard with IP, firmware, serial and connection status, plus favourites, search, filters and manual entries for other subnets.
Each attached device can be reached via a single click. Any device’s web apps can be inspected straight from the tray or the dashboard without need to type IP addresses into the browser. The display includes colour-coded status dots, optional auto-start and automatic updates.
Free for everyone working with DHD systems, the Discovery app is available now for macOS 12+, Windows 10+, or a modern Linux distribution with FUSE support.
Discovery will be demonstrated on DHD’s stand 8.B4 at the September 11th-14th 2026 International Broadcasting Convention in the RAI Amsterdam.
