Zodiak Kids confirmed the accompanying novel range for TF1 animated series The Ranch has reached sales in France of over 250,000 copies with its 12 edition series to date.
The highly popular hit series launched in 2012 and will return to TF1 for a second (26 x26’) season this autumn. The brand new season is being produced out of Zodiak Kids Studios French production arm under Télé Images Productions.
The novels are produced by Hachette label Bibliothèque Rose and they will release three further novels this year in July, October and December bringing the total number available to 15.
In France, the licensing rights are managed by TF1 Licences in partnership with Zodiak Kids CP division. Other licensing deals include − Jungle (Comic books), Lansay (toys), back to school and stationery (Tennessee), home decoration (Lutece) and TF1 Video (DVD).
The Ranch has been an international sales success with the series sold into over 30 territories including Ciwen (China), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), RTS (Switzerland), Noga (Israel), POP TV (Slovenia), BBC Alba (UK), NRK (Norway), VRT (Belgium), ORF (Austria), Super 3 (Spain) and Canal Panda (Portugal).
The Ranch depicts the adventures of four teenagers, who share a passion for horse-riding. When Lena encounters a wild stallion called Mistral who has been injured, she decides to adopt and tame him. With the help of her friends Angelo, Anais and Hugo, Lena fights to keep the uncontrollable horse at their rescue home in the heart of the wild Camargue countryside.
Zodiak Kids holds worldwide distribution rights to the series. Télé Images Productions is represented by TF1 Licences in France and CPLG in Germany.
