London – The hit U.S. scripted show, Suits, has sold to South Korean EnterMedia Pictures Co. Ltd for its first adaptation.
The deal, which hails from NBCUniversal International Formats, was concluded by Asia Director Format Sales Liaison, Linfield Ng and Yvonne Pilkington, SVP Formats & Production, NBCUniversal International.
Suits tells the story of Mike Ross, who works as a law associate for hotshot lawyer Harvey Specter despite never actually attending law school. The critically acclaimed legal drama debuted on USA Networks in 20011 and now in its fifth season.
The Korean version will be jointly exec-produced by Sebastian Dong Hun Lee and David Kim of EnterMedia Contents, who are represented by WME. Both producers were responsible for the U.S. adaptations of Korean hit scripted series, My Love from Another Star and Good Doctor.
Yvonne Pilkington, SVP Formats & Production, NBCUniversal International, commented, “This deal further cements our interest in broadening our activity in the vibrant Asian market. Having recently acquired Korean non-scripted formats for international distribution (Hidden Singer and Where Are We Going, Dad?), we are excited to announce Suits Korea as our first scripted format deal in Asia. We look forward to working with EnterMedia Pictures to bring this terrific series to Korean and Asian audiences.”
David Kim, Managing Director of EnterMedia Pictures Co. Ltd, said, “We are very excited for Suits and fans of the show. This will be the first ever adaptation of this U.S. show in Korea as well as in Asia, and many U.S. scripted shows have been very popular amongst Korean audiences.”
