Singapore – AXN has added to its programming line-up the newly acquired blockbuster hit U.S. limited event series, 24: Live Another Day.
Promising “24 in 24”, AXN Asia audiences will get to watch 24: Live Another Day within 24 hours of the U.S. broadcast, premiering on May 6 and airing on Tuesdays from 10pm (SG, MY, HK) / 9pm (JKT, TH) first and exclusively.
24: Live Another Day
“We are proud that AXN remains the English GE channel of choice and continue to build on its success,” said Hui Keng Ang, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Networks, Asia, Sony Pictures Television. “24: Live Another Day is as big a TV show as it gets, and is spot-on with AXN’s brand of thrilling entertainment.”
24: Live Another Day, produced by Teakwood Lane Productions, in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Television, brings Emmy Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland (The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Pompeii) back in his iconic role of agent Jack Bauer. Set and shot in London, the suspenseful new event series will continue following Jack’s exploits. Four years ago, in the eighth season of 24, he became a fugitive from justice. Now in exile, he is still willing to risk death to avert yet another global disaster. Also reprising their roles are Mary Lynn Rajskub (Firewall) as Jack’s confidante, Chloe O’Brian, and Kim Raver (Revolution) as Jack’s former love interest, Audrey Raines.
Evolving from the real-time, one day-24 episode format founded in the original 24 series, 24: Live Another Day is a 12-episode limited event series. It will follow the 12 most critical hours of a typical 24 season, with jumps forward between hours as necessary. The intense new series will continue to feature split screens and interweaving storylines that have set 24 apart from other shows.
In the eight seasons that aired from 2001 – 2010, 24 received 73 Emmy Awards nominations and won for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ in 2006. Sutherland earned seven Emmy nominations and one win for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor – Drama Series’. The show is today a part of the cultural lexicon in much of the world.
24: Live Another Day headlines the month of May, branded ‘Mighty May’ on AXN. Audiences will also be able to catch the new original production, Cyril: Rio Magic. The six-part, 30-minute series follows the Tokyo-based magician, Cyril (Cyril: Simply Magic, Cyril’s Family Vacation: Hawaii Edition) to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, home of the upcoming football World Cup. There, he disguises himself to blend into everyday situations to bring locals and tourists magical and comical moments of wonder. Cyril: Rio Magic is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television’s networks in Asia and Japan, and Charis Entertainment. The series debuts on May 4, airing on Sundays at 7.40pm (SG, MY, HK) / 6.40pm (JKT, BKK) / 8.30pm (PH) first and exclusively on AXN. Also bowing is the 14th and latest of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the perennial favourite police procedural returns on May 28, airing on Wednesdays at 10pm (SG, MY, HK) / 9pm (JKT, TH).
24: Live Another Day is a production of Teakwood Lane Productions in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Television. Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, David Fury, Robert Cochran, Brian Grazer, Jon Cassar and Kiefer Sutherland will executive-produce.
It is distributed worldwide by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
