Hong Kong – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, is entering the Year of the Horse on a high, having achieved record ratings performance in 2013. CTE’s flagship Chinese movie channel, Celestial Movies (CM), and action entertainment channel, KIX HD, hit record highs in Malaysia while KIX and suspense and horror channel Thrill experienced rapid growth in viewership in the Philippines.
CM celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 and ten years on grew its average viewership by 35% among ASTRO Chinese subscribers compared with 2012.* CM also hit record ratings in Malaysia last August with its line-up of Chinese blockbusters and doubled its viewership from the same month the previous year.
KIX HD continues to gain audiences in Malaysia. Viewership for the channel nearly tripled in 2013 compared to the same period in 2012 with Astro 4+ subscribers.* In December 2013, KIX HD hit its highest average ratings since the channel launched.
In the Philippines, KIX and Thrill continue their upward climb in viewers. KIX’s prime time viewership tripled that of 2012 among Cable 2+ audiences. In addition, the channel delivered a 173% increase in viewership among its core demographic of Cable 20-54 audiences in urban areas compared to the prior year.**
Thrill also experienced record-breaking growth in the Philippines with average viewership in the second half of 2013 tripling viewership in the first half of the year among Cable 2+ viewers. Thrill also held its second annual Asian Fear Fest in October and hit its highest average ratings ever that month, showing an almost six-fold increase in prime time viewership.**
