Barcelona, Spain / New York – AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international division of AMC Networks, has announced that it will debut the acclaimed scripted drama Low Winter Sun for Sundance Channel in Europe and Asia. The announcement was made ahead of CTAM EuroSummit ’13 by Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, who will present the series in a session on independent content at the conference.
Low Winter Sun, which is a co-production between AMC Studios and Endemol Studios, will be available on Sundance Channel in Central and Eastern Europe, Iberia and Asia in the coming months. Low Winter Sun stars Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty) and is executive produced by show runner and writer Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case). The series is based on the award-winning British miniseries of the same name.
Filmed on location in Detroit, Low Winter Sun also stars Lennie James (Lockout, The Walking Dead) as Joe Geddes; a Detroit detective and Agnew’s partner in crime; Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Their Eyes Were Watching God, Castle) as Charles Dawson, the precinct’s Lieutenant; Athena Karkanis as Dani Khalil, a precinct detective; James Ransone (The Wire, Sinister) as Damon Callis, the blue collar criminal at the center of Detroit’s underworld; Sprague Grayden (24, Sons of Anarchy) as Maya Callis; Damon’s hard-nosed and cold-blooded wife; Billy Lush (Generation Kill) as Nick Paflas, a damaged veteran who is gradually folded into Detroit’s criminal crew; and David Costabile (Lincoln, Side Effects) as Simon Boyd, an Internal Affairs investigator. In addition to Mundy, the series is co-executive produced by Dave Erickson and Rolin Jones.
Sundance Channel is available to pay-TV operators as a standard and high definition linear television channel, VOD service and via mobile and online authenticated streaming. Additionally, select VOD programme offerings are available during theatrical windows so audiences can watch films that are still in theatres from the comfort of their own homes.
