Angel Orengo, Senior Vice President, Distribution, Asia-Pacific for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) shares with TV ASIA plus some insights about SPT’s slate following the TV Upfronts 2013:
“With seven series orders, this has been Sony Pictures Television’s best pilot season in a decade,” says Angel Orengo, Senior Vice President, Distribution, Asia-Pacific for Sony Pictures Television (SPT). “Some of the trends we are seeing are TV series with clear concepts and recognizable names. Many of the shows SPT is bringing to market have both, including James Spader in the much-talked-about drama ‘The Blacklist,’ Greg Kinnear as a self-destructive defense attorney in ‘Rake,’ and of course ‘The Michael J. Fox Show.’ Michael’s new series, which is receiving tremendous buzz, is also leading another industry trend favoring the family-centered sitcom, as well as our multigenerational family comedy, ‘The Goldbergs,’ and ‘Welcome to the Family,’ which follows two very different families forced to bond when their children fall in love.”
Sony Pictures Television has announced its 2013/ 2014 upfront slate. NBC’s comedies The Michael J.
