Los Angeles – BoPaul Media Worldwide (BMW) will upconvert to the HD 1080p format some selected classic films in its 1,000-title library. Simultaneously, BMW also reported the sale of the recently upconverted HD version of Human Beast, one of the collection of films in horror icon Paul Naschy’s catalog, to Japan’s Medallion Media. Hunchback of the Morgue, another Naschy classic included in the sale, will be upgraded to HD later this year.
Among the other BMW releases that have received the new HD treatment are Victory Films’ Wild Geese, Zulu Dawn, and Ashanti; and eight other Naschy titles—Horror Rises From the Tomb, The Night of the Werewolf, Exorcism, The Werewolf and the Yeti, Vengeance of the Zombies, The Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll, and A Dragonfly for Each Corpse.
Other films to be upconverted to HD are BMW’s own Hellraiser IV: Bloodline; Arrow Films’ Mrs. Caldicott’s Cabbage War; and Jose Frade’s Blood and Sand, which stars Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct).
“With the dramatic rise of HD channels and Blu-ray video distribution around the world, it is clear that the value of our library is substantially enhanced with the conversion to HD 1080p format,” said Paul Rich, co-founding CEO of BMW.
