Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) had commissioned a second season of Endemol’s preschool series Bananas in Pyjamas. The new season (52 x 12’) will be produced by Endemol companies Southern Star Entertainment and Southern Star Singapore in association with ABC.
Barbara Uecker, Head of Programming for ABC Children’s TV and also ABC’s Executive Producer for the series, said: “We are delighted that the animated Bananas in Pyjamas has received a very positive reaction from Australian audiences since it launched in May 2011. The new series has successfully revived this important brand in its home country, and has consistently delivered excellent ratings in a variety of time slots on our pre-school channel, ABC4KIDS.”
Channel 5 and Turner Broadcasting have also come on board and acquired the second season. Turner will broadcast the series on its pre-school network Cartoonito in 112 territories across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Bananas in Pyjamas has been a phenomenal success in more than 70 countries and continues to be loved by pre-schoolers around the world. Featuring new stories, laughs and new songs, the latest series will feature new friends – Topsy the Kangaroo, Charlie the monkey, and Bernard the dog – joining B1 and B2, their adorable friends the Teddies and the ever mischievous Rat in a Hat, in their adventures through the magical world of Cuddlestown.
