Singapore – The leading ladies on DIVA Universal have racked up an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. This haul makes up the bulk of the 38 Emmy nominations picked up by Universal Networks International-owned Asia channels. Downton Abbey, which premieres in September, has earned 11 nominations, with its veteran actress Maggie Smith vying for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Mini Series or a Movie award. The Good Wife, which is first and exclusive on DIVA, has attained nine highly sought-after nominations including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Julianna Marguilies. Mariska Hargitay and Laura Linney both have earned nods for their performance as strong female leads in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Big C, respectively. Hugh Laurie has yet again been nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy. His exceptional performance as the troubled maverick Doctor House in House has brought him six nominations since 2005. Syfy also has two series running for Emmy honours. The Cape, debuting in Asia on 22 August, has been nominated for its special effects. While Stargate Universe, has gained a nomination for its visual effects in its second and final season.
