Hong Kong – Celestial Pictures (Celestial) announced the signing of a multi-year output deal with one of the leading Chinese movie companies in Hong Kong, Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP). The deal gives Celestial Pictures’ flagship channel CELESTIAL MOVIES (CM) the exclusive first run pay-TV rights to broadcast the entire upcoming slate of theatrical productions from EMP. Territories covered under the deal include Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. In consideration of today’s multiplatform market, Pay-Per-View and VOD (Video-On-Demand) rights were also expressly included in the deal. CM subscribers will be the first to watch on TV some of the most anticipated and star-studded Chinese movies of 2010 and 2011. These include EMP’s big budget martial arts epic Shaolin, directed by Benny Chan, starring Andy Lau and Nicholas Tse and featuring a special appearance by Jackie Chan and the high-profile action comedy, Let The Bullets Fly, starring Chow Yun-Fat, Jiang Wen (who also directs), Ge You and Carina Lau.
