FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) are looking to increase their activity in the Australian drama market following recent successes. Having just acquired multi-platform drama Slide, FME has also just tied up a major sale of series three of the AFI-nominated drama Satisfaction to HBO Latin America, and continues to rack up sales for Australian crime series The Strip. Slide will be the first ever drama in Australia that will launch with an online prequel followed by episodes to air on Foxtel in April next year. The online elements will be produced by digital producers Hoodlum, whose credits include Spooks Interactive, the Emmerdale Online Channel, and the Emmy-nominated augmented reality game (ARG) Find 815 that accompanied US drama Lost. Linear production will be handled by Playmaker. Earlier this year, FME announced a global drama initiative which included first look deals with some of the world’s leading producers including Winkler Films, Mike Tollin and Landscape Entertainment in the US and renowned writer and producer Paul Abbott in the UK. The company is already in discussions with several producers in Australia and is actively seeking more partnerships with the country’s best in production.
