Indian telco Bharti Airtel has boosted the broadband speeds available to customers of its triple-play services. Customers of its IPTV service Digital TV Interactive - available in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida - can now choose the new Magic@Home Freedom 1 MB package for INR 1,899 (US$ 40) per month, offering download speeds of up to 1 Mbps, and the Magic@Home Turbo package for INR 1,499, offering download speeds of 512 Kbps which gets doubled to 1 Mbps at night. BSNL & Smart DigiVision launch IPTV in Chennai
India - Indian telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has launched an IPTV service called 'MyWay BSNL' in the city of Chennai in association with Indian firm Smart Digivision, according to reports in local newspaper The Hindu. The new service offers over 150 linear channels as well as video-on-demand and music-on-demand libraries, and a parental lock to block certain content. MDA may intervene in Singapore soccer showdown
Singapore - As bidding for the next three-year cycle of English Premier League soccer looms, the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore is believed to be looking at intervening to prevent the costs of broadcast rights escalating any further. KT launches QOOK
Korean telco KT has launched a new brand for its residential services, such as landline telephony, internet and IPTV called 'QOOK'. The new brand name will now prefix all residential services provided by the telco. Taipei - Taiwanese telco Chunghwa Telecom has reported 676,000 subscribers to its IPTV service 'Multimedia-on-Demand' (MOD) by the end of 2008, up 71.4 percent from one year previously.
