Chunghwa Telecom lowers Multimedia On Demand forecast
Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom has lowered its forecast for end-year subscribers on its Multimedia on Demand (MOD) fibre network. The telco now expects to reach 700,000 customers by the end of this year, and 1 million by the end of 2010. Chunghwa had been hoping to reach 2 million MOD customers by the end of 2010, according to reports in news website Benzinga. New Zealand telco TelstraClear has started testing IPTV services, and has pointed out that it plans to deliver the service over the country's yet-to-be-built ultra-fast broadband network, according to reports in the New Zealand Herald. Indonesia - PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) announced that it will now be launching IPTV in 2010. The service will be available initially in Jakarta before expanding to five other locations including Surabaya, Medan and Bali by 2011. South Korea - Data from the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has revealed that telco KT had 988,000 subscribers for its IPTV service 'Qook TV', with 703,000 customers using its broadcast service and around 285,000 customers using its VOD-only service, reports The Korea Herald. Korea’s LG Dacom sees IPTV sales soar in Q3
