STAR signs licensing deal with Malaysia’s Media Prima Berhad

Hong Kong - STAR Greater China announced a multi-year licensing renewal deal with Media Prima Berhad. Under the agreement, Media Prima will license from STAR the television rights to over 20 Fortune Star Library blockbusters including The Fist of Fury by Bruce Lee; Three Jet Li titles, including Once Upon a Time in China series and Black Mask, and Seven Jacky Chan titles, including Police Story series, Dragon Lord, Winners and Sinners, City Hunter and My Lucky Stars. MPB divests Philippines investment for US$16 million

Petaling Jaya - Media Prima Berhad (MPB) is set to recover its investment in the Philippines following the proposed divestment of its entire 70 per cent equity stake in its subsidiary, MPB Primedia Inc to Mediaquest Holdings Inc. for US$16 million. Global economic crisis takes toll on Media Prima

Malaysia - Media Prima Berhad (MPB) has recorded its first-ever first-quarter loss as the global downturn took a toll on domestic consumption and advertising expenditure. MPB registered a loss after tax and minority interest of RM23.23 million for the first quarter ended 31 March 2009 compared with a net profit of RM17.06 million in the previous corresponding quarter. Kuala Lumpur – Media Prima Berhad (MPB) announced that Abdul Rahman Ahmad will be ending his tenure as the group managing director/CEO in August 2009. Dato Amrin Awaluddin, the current CEO of TV3 has been appointed as the new chief operating officer, MPB and the designated successor to Abdul Rahman. Amrin will relinquish the position of CEO, TV3.
