China’s CCTV launches Arabic International Channel
China - CCTV has officially launched its Arabic international channel. The new channel "will serve as an important bridge to strengthen communication and understanding between China and Arab countries," said CCTV vice president, Zhang Changming, in a statement. Philippines: PLDT launches Cignal
Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) has launched direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television services. The new service is called Cignal and is operated by subsidiary MediaScape, the Business Mirror reports. Cignal offers two HD channels and 20 channels in standard definition for PHP 390 per month. Cignal is initially only available in some areas in Luzon, where there is no cable TV.
