Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) has launched direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television services. The new service is called Cignal and is operated by subsidiary MediaScape, the Business Mirror reports. Cignal offers two HD channels and 20 channels in standard definition for PHP 390 per month. Cignal is initially only available in some areas in Luzon, where there is no cable TV. According to company officials, more high-definition channels will be added to heed viewer demand.
