Seoul – Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has acquired a 38.89% stake in Korean telco Hanaro Telecom, which operates the successful Hana TV IPTV service. SK Telecom acquired the stake for a reported KRW 1,087bn (US$1.18 billion); the deal is subject to government approval. Seoul – SK Telecom looks set to control Korea’s Hanarotelecom after being named as the sole preferred bidder of AIG/Newbridge consortium’s 39.36% stake in Hanaro. Sydney - Telstra has signed agreements with China Netcom and the Australian rights holder, the Seven Network, to broadcast live coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics to millions of Australian homes.
