Localization studio DubHub has announced a new collaboration with Tuvalu Media, broadcaster Avrotros and OD Media to bring the Dutch hit youth series The First Years (Brugklas) to global audiences through YouTube and newly localized language versions with the first version dubbed in English launching the 10th of October 2025.
The multi-season scripted reality series has become a cultural phenomenon in the Netherlands, originally premiering for Avrotros on NPO Zapp in 2014. Since then, The First Years has aired for fourteen successful seasons and generated almost 400 million views on YouTube — a testament to its strong connection with young audiences.
Under the new partnership, DubHub will lead the localization and AI-driven dubbing of the series, starting with an English-language version. The companies expect to reach over one billion cumulative views as new markets are introduced.
The potential to multiply audiences through YouTube channels in new languages is a huge opportunity for any producer or content owner. We’ve followed The First Years since its launch and believe it has outstanding potential for international audiences, says Fredrik af Malmborg, CEO of DubHub.
The First Years has already attracted significant interest from international markets,” adds Emiel Neervoort, MD of Tuvalu Media. “With the development of new, efficient dubbing technologies, it’s a natural step to expand into localized versions for global viewers.”
OD Media will handle YouTube management for the project, leveraging its global network and expertise in digital distribution to optimize reach and monetization.
