Black Snow travesl to new territories as All3Media International signs more deals for Goalpost Pictures’ acclaimed mystery drama

October 29, 2024 by TVA Editor

Leading independent distributor All3Media International has signed a host of new deals for Goalpost Pictures’ Black Snow, the acclaimed mystery drama produced for Stan, Australia, and Sundance Now, USA. The latest round of acquisitions sees the first season making its debut in brand-new territories around the world, as well as the upcoming second season secured by multiple returning broadcasters.
Black Snow, a gripping whodunnit starring Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Dune: Prophecy) in the lead role of Detective James Cormack, made its debut on Stan in Australia last year and subsequently launched on Sundance Now in the USA and Canada.  Season 2 will premiere on Stan on New Year’s Day 2025.
Following season one’s acclaimed ratings winning launch earlier this year in the UK on the BBC, the public broadcaster has signed rights for a second season. All3Media International has also signed deals for Black Snow’s anticipated second season in Sweden on TV4 and in Finland on MTV OY, following season one’s successful launch for both broadcasters.
Black Snow’s first season continues to find new premium partners around the world.  All3Media International has signed pan-territory acquisitions for season one with Prime Video in Africa. Season one has also been secured by Acorn Media for Spain and Spanish-speaking Andorra, Blue Entertainment for German-speaking Switzerland and Lichtenstein, and RTBF for French-speaking Belgium.
In addition, previously announced season one broadcasters have renewed their commitment to the drama by signing the upcoming second season. In Europe, the second season will return to Magenta TV (Germany), Canal+ (Austria), Cosmote (Greece) and Sýn hf (Iceland), OSN+ and OSNtv in the Middle East and TVNZ in New Zealand.
Maartje Horchner at All3Media International, commented, “We’re very proud to continue the global success story of Black Snow as this distinctive premium drama is snapped up by more broadcasters. Season one introduced viewers to a unique character-driven mystery drama, brought to life by an outstanding ensemble cast, and it quickly stood out as a viewer favourite in numerous territories. With a second season now on the way, which sees Detective Cormack diving into a completely new mystery, the appeal of Black Snow can only continue to grow, offering broadcasters an exceptional, highly acclaimed returning drama with broad audience appeal.”
Filmed in Queensland and set amongst the Glasshouse Mountains, Travis reprises the role of Detective Cormack, and stars alongside new cast members Jana McKinnon (Stan Original Series Bad Behaviour), Megan Smart (Class of ‘07), Alana Mansour (Erotic Stories), Dan Spielman (Bad Behaviour, The Newsreader), Victoria Haralabidou (Stan Original Series The Tourist) and Kat Stewart (Offspring).
In this returning season, cold case Detective Cormack tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (McKinnon), who hasn’t been seen since her own 21st birthday party in 2003. And the other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.
After a critically acclaimed first season, director Sian Davies (Stan Original Series The Gloaming), executive producer Rosemary Blight (The Invisible Man), and series creator Lucas Taylor (Harrow) return to the series, with Helena Brooks (Stan Original Series Population 11) joining as director. Season one lead actor Talijah Blackman-Corowa joins the second season as director’s attachment, supported by Screen Queensland. The first season of the Stan Original Series Black Snow was a global success, embraced by audiences and critics alike. Nominated for Most Outstanding Drama Series at the 2023 Logie Awards, as well as seven nominations at the 2024 AACTA Awards – Best Drama Series and Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Travis Fimmel – the first season sold to all major international territories including the US, where the series screened on Sundance Now. Black Snow then won the Screen Business Export Award at the Australian Screen Producer Awards.
The brand-new season of the Stan Original Series Black Snow is produced in association with All3Media International and Sundance Now and with financial support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW and City of Gold Coast. A Goalpost Television Production. Stan Executive Producers Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie. Black Snow will return to U.S. audiences via AMC Networks’ popular streamer, Sundance Now, in 2025.
