Cooper.
“We’re thrilled to be launching the truly unique comedy series Davey & Jonesie’s Locker this MIPCOM along with season 2 of Doomlands, both of which are going to win huge fan bases worldwide.” says Diane Rankin, EVP, Rights & Executive Producer, Blue Ant Media. “These series, and new developments Armadillo Avalanche and Generation Mars, showcase the power of strong IP, world-class talent, incredible storytelling, and inventive animation aligning with Blue Ant Media and marblemedia’s combined creative and distribution expertise. We look forward to talking with international partners about these exciting projects and partnership opportunities at MIPCOM.”
Davey & Jonesie’s Locker (10 x 30; marblemedia for Hulu (US) & Amazon Prime Video (Canada, Australia & New Zealand)
The original series follows Davey and Jonesie, two lovable, eccentric best friends who have always felt out of step with their peers and the banal backdrop of their high school existence. When they discover their locker is actually a portal to the multiverse, they’re more than ready to escape their teenage prison of mediocrity in favour of new horizons. But the joke is on them when they end up in bizarre, alternate versions of their high school, surrounded by offbeat versions of their classmates. Fortunately, these audacious and creative besties are ready to make the most of this vacation from reality by leaving their mark on every universe they visit, even if it means choosing interdimensional chaos while they’re at it.
Creator/Showrunner Evany Rosen (New Eden, Baroness Von Sketch Show, The Spencer Sisters) is tapping into her distinctive comedic voice to create this new original series that stars the talented Veronika Slowikowska (F/X’s What We Do In The Shadows) as Davey, and Jaelynn Thora Brooks (CBC’s Heartland), as Jonesie.
Doomlands, Season 2 (20 x 11’|10 x 22′; Look Mom! Productions for Roku)
From the irreverent mind of Josh O’Keefe, Doomlands is Roku’s first-ever adult animated series. The show started as creator O’Keefe’s university film project turned crowd-funded pilot and was later developed by Josh Bowen and Look Mom! Productions with help from writers Mark Little and Kayla Lorette. The second season of this quirky scripted, animated adult comedy follows the misadventures of Danny Doom, his sidekick Lhandi, their mobile pub and a travelling band of bar flies as they wander through a desert wasteland. All are back to face ruthless desert gangs, memory-stealing creeps and the ultimate spectacle in the wastelands, The Edge Race.
Armadillo Avalanche (10 x 30; marblemedia in paid development)
Currently in paid development with two scripts available, this animated action-comedy is available for international co-production and pre-sale partnerships opportunities. When an all-girl tweenage punk band accidentally rips a hole in the fabric of the universe with their music, they find themselves imbued with superpowers, fighting monsters, and rocking out while doing it together. The series evolved from marbleKids’ original digital shorts of the same name, funded through the Shaw Rocket/Canada Media Fund Shorts Program. Created by Celeste Koon and showrun by Evan Thaler Hickey, the series is inspired by the power of pop punk music and what you can do if you commit to something bigger than yourself.
Generation Mars (8 x 60; marblemedia in paid development).
Based on Douglas D. Meredith’s book series, Generation Mars chronicles humanity’s perilous extraterrestrial endeavour from the unique point of view of an extraordinary family – and will deliver an optimistic, heart-pounding thrill ride, based on hard science, that will inspire adventure-seekers of all ages. The series’ hour long episodes centre around 12-year-old Cas, who is a true Martian – the first human born on Mars. Her parents were settlers from Earth and for the first time, she is about to step outside and see the Martian sky. Award-winning creator and executive producer, Robert C. Cooper of Mezo Entertainment has signed on as the project’s showrunner.
