ABS-CBN, the Philippines leading media and entertainment company, is the most watched free-to-air TV channel in the country with an average audience share of 46%, or 12 points higher than its closest competitor, GMA, with only 34%, according to data from Kantar Media.
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
ABS-CBN also swept the top nine spots in the list of most watched programs in the Philippines for the previous month.
Still most watched nationwide with an average TV rating of 39.9% is action drama series “Brothers,” which tells the story of policeman Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) in his quest to avenge the death of his twin brother, Ador. Even after more than two years of being on-air, the show still enjoys a massive following from its avid viewers.
Local adaptation of worldwide hit talent franchise “Pilipinas Got Talent,” meanwhile, clinched the second spot with average national TV rating of 38.1%. Now in its sixth season, “Pilipinas Got Talent” continues to dominate weekend programming. The show recently hit its new an all-time high rating of 43.3%.
Also making it to the top nine are “La Luna Sangre” (30.5%) and “Wildflower” (23.3%).
“La Luna Sangre” enters the world of vampires and werewolves and tells the story of two lovers bound to be mortal enemies according to a prophecy made under the blood moon.
“Wildflower,” meanwhile, is about a woman’s quest for revenge against a ruling political family in the town of Poblacion Ardiente.
Other programs in the top nine include primetime newscast “TV Patrol” (32.6%), drama anthology “Remembering” (31.2%), fantasy drama “Wansapanataym” (29.6%), situational comedy “Home Sweetie Home” (23.2%), and magazine show “Rated K” (22.2%).
ABS-CBN remains to be the premier source of high quality Filipino programming in over 50 territories all over the world. It has sold over 30,000 hours of content worldwide.
Last year, ABS-CBN entered Colombia with the airing of its drama “Corazones Cruzados” via Caracol. This is the second Latin American country to air ABS-CBN content following Peru, which aired “Puentes De Amor” via PanAmericana.
From Latin America, ABS-CBN also expanded reach in Africa after it sealed a volume deal with digital TV operator StarTimes at the recent MIPCOM in Cannes, France.
ABS-CBN also proved that Filipino talent could compete in the international scene after Filipino actor Zanjoe Marudo got an International Emmy Awards nomination in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his exceptional portrayal of a schizophrenic father in an episode of ABS-CBN’s weekly drama anthology “Remembering.”
